Photo of the Day: The Overwhelming Urge To Sleep!

Giving in to the overwhelming urge for a nap, this older couple simply parked on a street in England, locked the car, and gave in to that urge. They were completely oblivious to the amused pointing and kindly laughter of everyone passing by. Sweet, eh?

Falling under the ‘you couldn’t make that up’ category, here’s a photo of a street corner in Toulouse, France.

You Can Knit What?

Funny photo of the day today — Knit Kits seen in the window of a museum gift shop in Barcelona, Spain. I’ve seen knitted teapot cozies before, but never a knitted bike seat! And knitted cuffs for your wellies?

Ah well — something for everyone, eh?

The Garage Of Beers?

The Garage Of Beers is the literal translation of this sign for an auto garage in St. Girons in the Midi-Pyrenees of southern France. There are several auto parts, tire dealers, or garages in a one block area and this is one of them.

OK??? Not so sure about what goes on behind those garage doors with the two bears drinking beers with a Midi-Pyrenees snow-capped mountain in the background — but it did make me stop, look, and laugh!

Need A Parking Space?

So — you live in a quaint French town full of gorgeous old stone houses on a one lane cobblestone street and you know that the painters and plasterers are coming to work in your home. How do you suppose that they will make certain that there is available parking right in front of the house which is on an uphill slope?

How tradesmen secure a parking space on a narrow, uphill, cobblestone street in France

That’s how! They simply take several large paint buckets and lay planks across them until they secure an area that is large enough to park the work van.

Voila! A very practical solution!

One of Those “Only In France” Kind of Stories

Seriously??? Do YOU really fancy a bit of wildlife interaction as part of your ‘retail experience’ on the weekend? This is truly one of those “only in France” stories.

Down in the Pyrenees in the south of France, a wild boar caused Saturday shoppers to flee as it raced through the packed-with-people retail district in Toulouse on Saturday frightening the shoppers. I don’t know how I would have reacted in that situation!

The link for the story is here — complete with a news video (all in French).

Photo Break – A ‘Holy’ Use for Wool

She would love this, I thought to myself and then I heard myself say it aloud. I was thinking about a woman that I know who is positively obsessed with wool and the items that she can create from it.

This display in the gift shop at the St. Edmundsbury Cathedral in the town of Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk actually made me chuckle out loud a bit too loudly for that subdued atmosphere and I glanced over my shoulder to see if the two elderly women at the cash register were glaring at me. Indeed, they had stopped talking, but they were smiling sweetly at my amusement.

And now for your amusement, here is what I was laughing at.
